Finding the correct depth to fish at

Lakers are usually locallized to a narrow depth range (say 15 to 20 feet or 30 to 35 feet or 50 to 55 feet for example, depending on water temperature gradients -- you need to be at about 45 deg F). You need to get down to where the fish are using downriggers, or planers such as dipsy divers, or wire or lead core line. I use wire (15 guage) which drops 10 feet for every 100 feet out. For bait I use a frozen minnow on a treble hook or a spoon.
